Hello Friday

Today is going to be a rough day energy wise.  For some reason Marryn crawled in with us at around 4am where she promptly tossed and turned for the next hour before I finally gave up and took her downstairs to watch Calliou (her favourite, my least favourite!) and hopefully get a bit of rest be 6:45 when Jer wakes me up.  Didn't really happen that way as she kept saying, "Mom.......moooom.....MOMMY!!!" and waking me up every 10-15 minutes because she wanted me to answer her.  *sigh*  I'm tired today!!  Jer says when I put her down for a nap, instead of cleaning, take a nap too.  Hahahahahaha!  I said if I do that, I'll have double to do later today or tomorrow, so thanks for the help but, no.  There isn't a ton to do today so I may still be able to get an hour later but I do have to clean still lol.

Tonight I get to go and visit with some of my surro friends (and one who is an honorary surro, she isn't really a surro or IP but she fits in our group anyway :)) who are renting a cottage in Niagara on the Lake for the weekend.  I'll go and hang out with them for a couple of hours after dinner and then again all day and for dinner tomorrow!  I don't get to see them very often but when we do, time sure flies :)

Sunday will be a day of Harry Potter again.  We have 2 movies left in the series to watch...one of which Jer and I haven't seen yet so I'm definitely excited!

And those are our plans for the weekend!!!  I hope you all have a fun weekend planned as well!

Tax time

I'm going to get our taxes done today.  Normally I have an idea of what our return will be but last year really surprised us so this year I'm going in with absolutely no expectations!!

I'm also really hoping that we find a new van soon!  We've been in touch with one dealership but the contact guy has yet to find us what we're looking for.  We're pretty picky and know what we want so it's a bit more difficult.  Everything is set at the bank already, we just need the vehicle!!  I'm going to search a little more online today and see if I can't find somewhere else to go, it's been three weeks with the other dealership with nothing so far.

Aside from that it's laundry day and I'm also adding the floors to that as well as I mentioned yesterday.  I have noticed that I keep getting really dry flaky skin on my right hand as a result of doing the small bit of dishes by hand everyday.  I was looking at possibly changing dish washing soap but the stuff I get (which is antibacterial) doesn't come in a sensitive skin version...it's one or the other...I prefer non bacterial dishes!  So I'm using extra hand lotion these days!

Well, off to finish my coffee and start the floors, laundry is already in.  Jer and Jonah have cubs tonight so I have to get their uniforms done as well.

Happy Tuesday!

Mondays

Last week I commented on how motivated I feel on Mondays and while that is still true, the further along in this pregnancy I get, the less I'm finding I can do without having to take more frequent breaks.  I'll be 26 weeks on Wednesday, 2 weeks from the 3rd trimester so it does make sense I just wish I had a little bit more time of feeling comfortable!

Today I got everything done on my list except the floors.  I'm going to push those to tomorrow since Tuesdays are a bit easier on the list because I generally get a lot of stuff done on Monday.  I also have to continue with laundry (which seems never ending!) tomorrow...I want to get every one's bedding done tomorrow.

Other than that, not much to report.  We're headed to sushi dinner tonight because I was craving it :)

Hope your Monday was easy on you!!  :)

Saturday 9

Saturday 9: Come Dancing

1. When was the last time that you went out dancing?

I haven't gone out for the purpose of dancing since probably 2006

2. Have you ever had an argument with a teacher?

Of course, many!

3. Do you have a tough time remembering people’s names?

No not usually, I have a pretty good memory, unless I'm pregnant lol

4. Would you rather change your past or know your future?

Know my future.

5. What’s one thing you feel you must do in your life before it ends?

Visit Ireland and the rest of the UK for an extended vacation....so like 3 or more weeks, to take in everything and enjoy it without being rushed.

6. How many credit cards do you have right now that have a zero balance?

2, and we don't plan on using them again.

7. What is the most expensive thing you purchased this year?

We're about to buy a van.  Everything is approved at the bank, we just have to find the actual vehicle!

8 . If you're married, this probably doesn't apply to you, but: Are you mindful about getting tested for STDs/HIV at least semi-regularly? Why/why not? Married people: Were you mindful about this type of thing when you were single? Why/why not?

I was to a point.  I was tested on occasion but I was mostly in relationships that, once I was tested within the first 3-6 months, I didn't feel the need to be tested again.  And I have been tested since being married because of the surrogacy...it's standard practice.

9. If you could ask the president of the United States one question, what would it be?

How do you handle hearing all the negative things people say about you, especially when they aren't true?  How does it personally affect you?

It's the weekend!

Well it's the weekend again!  Jer has to work overtime yet again tomorrow which will be his 13th day in a row!  I'm hoping he has Sunday off to sleep in and do nothing all day, he needs a break!

Jonah has what I think is his last hip hop class tomorrow and James has his first ball hockey game.  Jonah will start soccer in the next month or so as well on Saturday's.  Busy busy kiddos!

As for me, other than driving them around I won't be doing a whole lot I don't think.  It was a busy week and I'm looking forward to an uneventful weekend.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend as well!  Sorry for the short post but there just isn't much to post about today :)

Happy Weekend!

Thankful Thursday

1. This inCREDIBLY gorgeous weather we have been having.  It makes me smile, motivated, happy and overall very content.  Sunshine does wonderful things for my mood!

2.  The healthy baby I am carrying for my IP's.  I'm thankful that they are finally going to have their family :)

3.  My wonderful IP's.  IM comes to every appointment and IF comes as much as he can and I'm so thankful that they want to be so involved!  They're great with my children and they will make wonderful parents to this little one.

4.  My deliciously wonderful children.  They will probably be in every thankful Thursday post because I really can't be thankful enough for them.  They are healthy and smart and beautiful and we are so very blessed to have them all!!

5.  My outstanding husband.  Again, probably a reoccurring thankfulness in these posts.  Because just like our children, I can't be thankful enough for him...he makes our lives what they are.  Without him, this world would be awfully gloomy.  I'm blessed that he loves us so much :)

6.  Our extended family.  They accept us for who we are as a couple and a family.  They are there to support us through whatever we have to go through.  They are extremely wonderful and I'm thankful my husbands side has accepted me and my children as their family as well!

7.  Motivation.  I used to lack it.  Now I have tons!  I'm very thankful for that!

8.  Creativity.  Without it I would feel like something was missing.  I love to create whether it be crocheting, painting, or composing.

9.  Slurpee's.  I am LOVING Slurpee's right now.  Especially Pineapple flavoured ones lol

10.  Fan's.  The kind that blow air around the room.  I could not LIVE without my fan!  We just bought a new one that is like hurricane force winds and it is AWESOME!!!  Especially since this weather has been so warm...they've been oh so helpful in cooling off this big pregnant woman!

Wordful Wednesday

Since I did a picture post yesterday and since yesterday did get progressively better I thought I would do a regular post today.

We had an ultrasound to check on the position of the placenta yesterday.  We won't find out until tomorrow if it has moved but Baby's mom and I got to see the baby moving and doing well so that was good :)

Then I went shopping for Jonah and Marryn at Once Upon a Child.  I LOVE THAT STORE!!!  I bought Marryn 5 pairs of shorts, 2 skirts, 7 shirts, 2 bathing suits and 3 sundresses and Jonah 4 pairs of shorts, 2 bathing suits and 6 shirts all for just under $99.  Marryn REALLY needed summer stuff, it's been so warm here and she only had three t-shirts and NO shorts at all!  Jonah has a couple of pairs from last year and I'm positive there is other stuff that I've put away I just can't for the life of me remember where so I have to look in the basement later today to see if I can find them.  But either way, they're almost fully outfitted for summer for less than a hundred bucks!  Score!  I plan to go get them each a couple of brand new outfits (because OUaC is a consignment store but they have great quality clothing, nothing tattered or stained or anything) and give them to them for Easter.  Unfortunately James doesn't fit in any of the clothes at OUaC anymore so he gets all new clothes.  He still has a lot from last year too that he still fits in and wears on a regular basis so I didn't have to worry about him so much.  So, a trip to Bonnie Togs and probably Walmart are in order later today I think!

I'm also glad I was able to get these clothes so that we have some stuff for our trip to Florida in October.  I'm so excited to be taking the kids to Disney for Halloween!!  They have a non-scary Halloween event where the kids can dress up and go trick or treating with the various characters.  I really think Jonah and Marryn are going to LOVE Disney.  As for James, I think he's going to like Universal Studios more than Disney (especially since he's already done Disney when he was 6).  They have a full scale Hogwarts Castle at Universal and I know *I* am SO excited to check that out!!!  We'll be going for a week and staying in a house in a gated community with a pool in the backyard courtesy of surrobabe's parents :)  They're lovely people and have graciously offered us the home for a week and I'm so thankful we have this opportunity!

Anyway, I still have yet to get to my floors this week, were supposed to be done Monday but with everything that's been going on (we've had appointments everyday, usually more than one) and tonight we have dinner for Jer's birthday at his moms house, I've not had the time to get to them.  Today I don't have anything until dinner so it's floor day today!

Happy Hump Day!!

Things are just not going the way I would like and things are getting messed up...no real blogging today so please enjoy these pictures that I like.

Motivated Mondays

I'm finding more and more that I get the most done on Mondays.  I was trying to space big household chores out over the week but I find that Monday is the most productive day of my week.  Probably because I'm a little more laid back over the weekend with the kids and (usually) Jer home.  We would much rather go out together than spend time doing chores!  So the housework tends to get pushed to the side a little more on the weekends.

I do have to say though that since February 15th, things have been neat and tidy almost every day.  The date is significant though I won't say why.  But what happened on that day really motivated me to keep up with everything instead of...well, not.  I will admit I hate housecleaning.  I like a clean house, I just really dislike(d) doing it.  Now that I'm doing a little bit each day, even when I REALLY don't feel like it, and I'm getting the kids to at least pick up after themselves (they used to have dishwasher duty but it's usually done by the time they get home from school now and I will leave the dinner dishes until the morning if there are just too many, if not I'll load the dishwasher myself before bed) and help out with picking stuff up off the floor so I can vacuum or bringing their laundry down to the basement, it's not nearly as bad as it used to seem.  I'm not hating it nearly as much as I used to.  And it's nice to know that anyone can come here at anytime and I don't have to worry about what the house looks like!

So, Mondays consist of cleaning and getting the house back to the way it was last Monday!  And I am enjoying it (which is surprising to me lol)...it's nice to have a spotless kitchen to get dinner started in...it's nice to have a very tidy living room to sit in after I've done it all as well!  So far today I've done both bathrooms and the dusting and it's not even 10 am! (And that doesn't include getting the kids up, dressed, fed and to school either!)  But, enough of a break, I'm back at it now!

Happy Monday!

Small rant and some other stuff!

How is it possible to sleep through an alarm clock for 45 minutes?  What about an HOUR and 45 minutes?  The neighbour in front of us has an endlessly beeping alarm clock.  They hit snooze sometimes but as of right at this moment, it has been beeping for 45 minutes straight.  The other day it went off for 1 hour 45 minutes.  It is extremely annoying and I know I definitely couldn't sleep through that!  If you want to keep sleeping, just turn it off!!!  Gah!

On a happier note, Jer was asked to work overtime again today so I'll be taking the kiddo's to the party by myself and he'll meet us there after work.  It sucks that he won't have a day off at all this week but I'm hoping next week is better!

We have an ultrasound on Tuesday to see if my placenta moved up.  On February 10th I had a BIG gush of blood (and for those of you who don't know I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant with a surrogate baby) and discovered that my placenta is/was only 1 cm from my cervix.  Dr. said he wants it at least 3 cm's from there so hopefully it has moved some.  Baby's mom and I THINK baby's dad is coming too!  It's so great to see how excited they are to see their baby :)

Then on Thursday we have a regular OB appointment which mom will be there for as well and we should find out about the placenta then.  I think it's fine now because I've stopped bleeding for about 2 weeks now.

Also the kids go back to school tomorrow after a nice March break :)

I hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day!

Broke the post marathon!

But for a good reason I guess lol...yesterday my sister in law and I took the kids to an indoor water park.  They had a blast!  It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be for a Friday and it being March Break so they got to really enjoy all the rides.

Yesterday was also my handsome husband's 29th birthday!  So by the time we got home from the water park, I had just enough time to fold two loads of laundry and shower before I had to pick him up from work.  From there we went to renew his license, pick up our new baker's rack, get the kids some pizza for dinner and then home for him to shower before heading out for sushi dinner with my sister in law and her boyfriend.

So it was a very, very busy but great day!  Back to blogging everyday (as long as it's not super busy like that!).

I'm about to take Jonah to his hip hop class.  Jer picked up some over time so he's working and Marryn is hanging out with James watching The Land Before Time.  While Jonah is at dance I have to go get my rings cleaned and pick up something for Jer to have for lunch since there were no left overs for him to take today since we all had take out last night.  Then home for a coffee with my best friend and wait for Jer to get home from work.  There is a stag and doe tonight that I think we're going to go to (we don't know the people but they're friends of friends and since ours I always feel like we need to go to them to help support the Bride and Groom!) tonight.

Then tomorrow we have Jer's grandmother's 85th birthday surprise party.  So, like I said, a very busy weekend but it's been a great March Break!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

The Queen's Meme

1. Breakfast literally means "breaking the fast" of the night. What is your favorite cereal?
Right now, multi grain Cheerios!  But if I'm feeling particularly unhealthy, Cap'n Crunch.

2. Brunch is typically eaten between breakfast and lunch. When is the last time you brunched?
A couple of weeks ago with Jer, we went to a party the night before and didn't wake up until around 11...then went to breakfast, but by that time it was definitely considered brunch!

3. In the castle we call it luncheon. The prisoners downstairs in the dungeon call it horrible lunch. Do you eat lunch at the same time everyday? What is your favorite sandwich?

No I don't eat at the same time everyday and I don't really have a favourite sandwich, I love sandwiches in general!

4. What is the difference between dinner and supper?
I don't think there is one.  Not in my opinion anyway.

5.  What time do you generally "take tea" in your abode?
I don't take tea in my abode lol...but if you mean have something before bed, it depends on  what time I had dinner that night.

6.  A "cuisine" is typically influenced by and named after geographical regions and cultures. Pretend your blog is a country. What is the name of your cuisine?
Definitely "Traditional Canadian Fare".

7. This is a good food display from the National Institute of Health and Human Services. What is the one healthy food item below that is lacking in your diet?

Fish.  We don't eat fish more than once or twice a month here.  But I'm trying to increase that!

Good Morning Monday

It's been one week since I decided to start blogging everyday again.  Thankfully I found the Daily Meme site to help me out when I don't feel like I'd have anything "new" to say here!

I used to hate Monday's when I was working.  It was the longest point from the weekend when I could catch up on everything and spend time with everyone.  When Jer works and I'm at home I love Mondays.  I always feel most productive after a weekend with everyone home.  I usually get tons of stuff done, especially if it's a nice day like it is today!

On my to-do list today I have re-vacuuming after yesterday...even though it was already done yesterday, we had a friend over all weekend and we munched and had dinner and it needs to be done again, regular kitchen stuff like cleaning off the counters and finish filling the dishwasher even though we all got together and did dinner dishes last night (which was a nice change!) there are still a few things from after dinner, Monday is bathroom day on my new routine list so that will also be done today.  I also want to get a bit of laundry done...there isn't much left from Friday's laundry day but the kids were playing pretty hard all weekend and there are probably two loads, one of muddy clothes and one of towels.  I also plan to make peanut butter cookies today and Jonah said he wanted to help so as soon as Marryn goes down for her nap that's what we'll be doing.

And then of course dinner....which I haven't decided what we're having yet lol

Typical Monday at our household (oh I can't express enough how happy I am for things to be back to normal!).

I hope you're having a wonderful Monday as well!!!

Sunday Stealing: The Not My Year Meme

Sunday Stealing: The Not My Year Meme

1. Are you in a job that you truly enjoy?

Now that I am back at home with my children, cleaning, cooking, baking and doing laundry, yes.  To some it may sound horrible, menial and even old-fashioned but, I love it.

2. If you could do any job in the world what would it be?

Other than what I'm doing now, and once my children get older, I would love to plan weddings.  I already have the Bridal Consultant Certificate.  I love weddings!

3. If you could be a character in a novel who would you be?

Probably Dora Rare from The Birth House by Ami McKay

4. When it comes to spending time with those you love, do you think it should be about quality or quantity?

Both really.  Sometimes just being in the house together, each doing our own things but within earshot of each other is good.  Other times, playing scrabble or clue or watching Harry Potter is great!  I spend a lot of time with my loved ones :)

5. Is there a job/career you wanted but realized you couldn’t possibly do for one reason or another?

Yes, birth doula or midwife.  I have a horrible vomitting phobia...and when I realized that pregnant and labouring moms throw up?  That was it, I couldn't do it.  :(

6. If you could live anywhere in the world or out of this world where would you live?

Ireland or Austrailia.

7. Where would you most like to visit and who with?

Ireland with my husband and children.  Which we will be doing in 2020.  I can't wait!

8. Which skill would you like to learn?

I would like to learn to sew and further my baking skills.

9. What made you laugh today?

My kiddos.  They say the funniest things sometimes :)

10. What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

Spending the day with my kids because they're on March break.  It's supposed to be really nice so we may head to the park for the first time this year (aside from tobogganing!).

11. What is your sign and do you believe in horoscopes etc?

Sagittarius and I do believe to some extent.  I don't think they can predict your life but I think they can help guide you.

12. If you could change one thing about your life thus far, what would it be?

Nothing.  Everything that has happened, everything I have done, every decision I have made, has lead me to right where I am right now.  If I changed things, my life would not be what it is right now...and I love our life, our family and our day to day.  Even all of the crap things that have happened...they have only made me a better person and stronger in the long run.  It sucked going through it but again, I wouldn't be where and who I am today.

13. If there was one charity you could give a huge contribution to, which charity would it be and why?

Well, my number one person to give money to right now would be my friend and her son who has battled cancer over the last couple of years.  They are really struggling right now and if we could just win the lottery, they would be all set and never have to worry financially again!

As for an actual charity, there are so many.  If we won the lottery, a lot of charities would benefit!

14. Should smoking be legal?

No.  Especially not in Canada.  We have "free" health care here.  Meaning tax payers pay for it.  There are so many people still smoking, despite the warnings, who end up sick with emphysema and cancer who are a huge strain on the health care system.  Not to mention, if it had been made illegal a long time ago, I might still have my dad here, who passed away from lung cancer due to smoking in 2007.

15. What are your views on the smoking ban in public places?

I think it's awesome.  I hate the smell of smoke and being a former smoker, I've chosen NOT to have smoke in my lungs anymore, therefore I'm glad I don't have to walk through buildings where people are smoking!  Bad enough when you walk out of a mall or big chain store and right into a cloud of smoke, YUCK!

16. Why do you blog?

I started originally because I have something to say.  Some are political, some are not.  But right this minute, I blog as part of a routine.  I enjoy writing and I haven't done it in a while!

17. Do you have a favorite author?

I like to read, I don't have a favourite!

18. Can you play any musical instruments?

Yes, flute, piano, bass and guitar.

19. What would your ideal car be?

Dodge Grand Caravan!

20. Describe yourself in one short sentence.

I'm a strong, loving, caring, fiercely protective, blunt, compassionate mother and wife.

21. What do you look for in a spouse/other half?

Someone who loves me for me, despite my flaws.  Someone who is romantic and loving, supportive and wonderful.  I have him already so I don't have to look any further :)

22. Worst meal you’ve had?

Meatloaf.  I hate meatloaf.

23. What do you do to relax in the evening?

Usually watch DVR with my husband.

24. Do you get along with your siblings?

Some of them.

25. Do you have any regrets?

I regret a few things, a few decisions and many mistakes I've made in my life.  However, I would not change them.  See #12.  I have made some really horrible mistakes and decisions but the only thing I can do now is know the difference between right and wrong and try to fix/make up for those things.  I know now what kind of person I DON'T want to be and I strive everyday to make sure to guide my children and hope that they don't make the same mistakes I did.

Saturday 9

The Saturday 9!

1. Do you enjoy going to a casino now and again?  Yes, I just went last night and then realized that I could have a real problem if I was to go on a regular basis.  I enjoy gambling far too much!  I dreamed about slot machines last night....it's kinda scary so I plan to stay away for the most part!

2. What makes you happy most of the time? My family :)

3. Are you jealous of someone right now? Nope...I'm not a jealous person at ALL.

4. You're stranded on a desert island with one fictional character. Who is it? Why?  MacGyver?  So that he could create a boat out of palm leaves and old logs and a radio out of some coconut shells and dental floss I have in my pocket lol...that would save our lives!

5. Have you ever been in the emergency room? If yes, for what (most recently)?  Yes, most recently for bleeding during pregnancy...but most often because of my asthma.

6. Where is the last place you drove to just for fun? Niagara on the lake...it's so quaint and pretty there.

7. If you were to make your living as a photographer, what would love to shoot? Weddings, hands down!

8. Tell us about a band you like that we might not have heard.  Ani DiFranco...solo artist rather than band but she's my favourite and I love her :)

9. Where was the last place you went shopping? Why?  Walmart...groceries.

Friday Five

Care of:  The Friday Five

-How do you react to people begging at intersections?

It depends.  We don't encounter it often but when we do we usually ignore them.  However when we're walking down the street where people are busking and such, we usually give to them.  The only reason I tend to ignore the intersection beggers is because they freak me out lol

-How do you react to people stranded in cars along the road?

I usually check and see if I can see them with a cell phone or if they are looking like they are just hoping someone will stop and help them.  I would never stop if I was alone but I know if I was with my husband I would probably stop if it seemed like they needed a phone.

-How do you react to telemarketers?

My first reaction is to say "No thank you" as soon as they start their speech.  If they continue, I'll tell them one more time, "No thank you"....if they keep going, that's when I get angry.  I understand they have a job to do but I've already told you twice, nicely, and I usually yell in the phone "NO THANK YOU" and hang up.

-How do you react to anonymous LJ comments in your journal?

Well it's not livejournal but here I will usually post them unless they're particularly negative.

-How do you react to online quizzes?
I like them and usually do them :)

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for many, many things in my life, some big, some little....these are some of them today!

1.  Obviously, my children.  Without them, I wouldn't be who I am and my life would be extremely dull!  They light up our lives in more ways than we can count.

2.  My husband.  Without him, I wouldn't be where I am today.  He's helped me have the courage to do so very many things.  He's been my rock when I thought I could just float away.  He's been my soft cushion when I needed somewhere to land.  And I have been all those things to him as well.  We're a great team and I'm looking foward to many, many years of marriage with him.

3.  The spring weather we've been having!  Having the doors open with the breeze blowing through motivates and energizes me.  I clean things that normally fall to the wayside when it's nice like that!

4.  The rainy day today.  I've been extremely busy getting things done around here in the last 3-ish weeks that I think today, Marryn and I will snuggle on the couch and watch TV or read.  We need a do-nothing sort of day (that is after the kitchen and livingroom is picked up!).

5.  Finally (for today) I'm thankful that we have the means to go on Saturday and look at buying a new vehicle.  Our van now has several issues (the windows stick when going up, the gas gage doesn't work, #3 setting on the heater doesn't work, the power steering system has a leak, the breaks and squealing and just yesterday we noticed a weird clunking noise that we don't know where it's coming from!) and because we're going to be driving to Florida in October, we are definitely in need of a new van!  We're hoping for a Dodge Grand Caravan...I want the windows that go down in the back and he wants the stow and go seating :)  I'm excited!!

Again, those are just 5 of the many things I am thankful for.  I'll likely do this more on Thursdays.  It's important to remember the wonderful things, especially when for the last little while I've been very focused on the negative things happening.

Changing my perspective helps me be a better person...to myself, to my husband, to my children!

The Household Meme

Courtesy of The Queen's Meme!

1. How many gravy boats do you have in your kitchen?  Zero, we are a gravy boat free kitchen.  We use a large measuring cup for our gravy lol

2. Do the clothes in your laundry basket need ironing?  Some of them, but I'm a bad housewife when it comes to ironing...my husband does the ironing!  I'm not good at it and I hate doing it.  So he does it for us...and I think he really enjoys it!  Last weekend he decided to take all the shirts out of his closet and iron them because "I have the time to do it today so why not?".  Hehe

3. What is the last thing you wallpapered?  I honestly can't remember.  I was probably about 8 and helping my mother.

4.  Wooden floors or carpet?  I prefer carpet and in our house now we have both carpet and vinyl flooring.  I think wooden floors are nice but a pain in the arse to keep clean and nice looking.

5.  Why do we put out guest towels if no one is supposed to use them?  I don't!  I never understood that logic!  That being said I won't put out towels that are old looking in our downstairs bathroom where guests are likely to use them but I don't own actual guest towels.

6.  If your spatula could talk, what would it say about your duvet?  "You look like like a stomach medication that is pink....dude.  That's one hell of a colour!"

7.  Have you replaced the batteries in your smoke alarms this year?  Yes we have, when we put the clocks back.  And we will change them again when it's time for the clocks to go forward!

Becoming a housewife (again)...

Put aside the whole stereotypical view of the "housewife".  In my opinion, it's not a horrible job to have.  I love it and I wouldn't trade it for the world.  And now that my husband has gone back to work, I can go back to my favourite job, my dream job, being a mom and wife.

Certain things in the last 6-8 months have had us at odds...not so much with ourselves but with the world and with other people.  I was feeling mean and nasty and angry and that's NOT who I want to be and that is NOT who I want to portray to my kids.  I've decided to let it all go and really focus on the important things.  I had to look at all of the situations and think, "Is this going to matter in 5 years?"...and every time, for every situation, the answer was no, not really.  So, away it goes.  Filed away, never to be forgotten but not to be dwelled upon either.

From my last post, you know I am expecting for a wonderful couple who have been waiting for a baby for several years.  Despite their best efforts and their positive pregnancy tests, they were never able to see the dream to fruition.  And that's where I come in.  I'm helping them realize their dreams by growing their much loved, much wanted baby in my uterus.  I'm extremely happy and proud to be able to do this!  To have the ability and mental capacity to be able to do this.  And, as I have done the last 2 times I've done this, I have made friends for life.  I get to see a family grow and there is nothing more amazing than that!  This pregnancy has been pretty good but not without it's scares...I had some bleeding on February 10th and it was pretty frightening.  Ultrasound shows that my placenta is laying about 1 cm from my cervix which was likely the cause of it.  Because of that I'm off of work under Dr.'s orders.  It should correct itself over the next few weeks though and if for some reason it doesn't the worst case scenario is that I have to have a c-section.  Other than that, baby is healthy and happily kicking away and I'm enjoying what will be the last time I ever carry a baby!

Rambling on...as I said at the beginning of this post, my husband was finally, after 6 months, called back to work.  Months ago, we had decided, number of reasons, that once he went back to work, I would come back and be the stay at home mom again.  Being off already made the transition seamless.  Being on our old schedule (with some minor changes for James' ball hockey, Jonah's dance and kubs and eventually Marryn's swimming lessons now that we have renewed our Y pass), sitting at the table for dinner every night, then bath's, singing and bedtime has been really good for all of us.  I've taken over most of the chores again and (due to one of the situations I mentioned above) have really focused on making sure things stay clean and clutter free.  It feels great to come downstairs in the morning and not trip on shoes or have to worry about doing dishes!  The kids are enjoying it too since they have less to clean up now as well lol...

Things have really been put into perspective for us.  And we've realized what's important, what's not, who we are as individuals and who we are as a couple.  Things were really laid out on the table and the bottom line was we really love each other, love being together and love our amazing children.  We're far closer now than we ever have been.  The situations we've gone through in the last little while has only solidified our relationship and made us stronger and closer.  When things are tough, we can say to each other, if we can make it through this, we can make it through anything!!!

My heart is overflowing.... :)
